About Scoil Rince Nua

Scoil Rince Nua was formed in Sheffield in 1995. Bernadette Twomey, along with her sisters Marie and Clare, taught approximately 20 children at St Francis of Assisi church hall for one hour each Saturday.
Within a year, the dancing school had grown and numbered more than 90 children.
In 1999, Cora Duffy joined Scoil Rince Nua to support Marie and Clare while Bernadette completed a Masters in ethnochorelology at the Irish World Music Centre, University of Limerick.
In addition to Cora, Elizabeth Drake, Teresa Boyden, Anne-Marie McMahon and Niamh Grant also teach at School Rince Nua while for a number of years we worked with Ruth Campbell who has now returned to Ireland.
The dancing school is relaxed and informal. It is a non-profit-making,
non-competitive and independent organisation.
Dancers are involved in a range of performances including school fairs, local festivals and an annual show.
We warmly welcome children from a range of backgrounds and abilities. School-age children are welcome to come along and join us for a free trial lesson and we encourage parents to stay and enjoy seeing their children as they develop their social skills, self-confidence and ability to dance.
